Brought to you by SWRM Labs, the Hive is our decentralized content distribution network (dCDN), made of hundreds to thousands of interconnected nodes. Hive node operators offer SWRM Labs access to some of their storage and networking assets in return for the ability to earn SWRM coin.
Any type of data can be uploaded to the Hive. You can upload files through your own Hive node, or a SWRM Enterprise customer portal. Once the files have been uploaded, a 16-byte link called a hash is generated. That hash can be shared with anyone - SWRM users and non-SWRM users alike - to fetch the data from the Hive. The Hive network handles all of the pinning, guaranteeing both high speeds and excellent uptime.
This is a boon for decentralized applications, which can run confidently knowing that their storage layer is just as decentralized as their app.
And for centralized applications, SWRM provides a low cost, low hassle, high-speed mechanism to store and distribute data. Storage and distribution costs are as much as 10x lower than traditional infrastructure, and bandwidth costs may be as much as 100x lower, all without sacrificing performance or reliability.
